That seems to be human nature(that is to say sin nature). I use to be in a public position and there wasn't a day that didn't go by that I saw people, GOOD church going people(not all of course) who, when presented with the opportunity to "gain" for themselves, they took it! No matter how their request of me affected me or anyone else, they wanted their way and that was that.
